Computer Technology students, please read this article and then create a Microsoft Word document that answers these questions:
1. Explain why it is/is not a good idea to text message while you are driving a car.
2. Does California have a similar law? If not, should they?
3. Is this law going too far in terms of being overly “protective” or getting into drivers business? Explain your answer please.
Save your document as Texting_yourlastname and put in your H: drive.

In case you were thinking that doing a PSA for your video class involving fake drug use was a good idea, think again. See this web site for the story.
Lesson: If you want to create an anti-drug video, make sure that you tell your teacher first and then don’t fake snort drugs.

Parents as Cyberbullies November 19, 2007

A disturbing article here led me to another, longer article here, regarding parents in Missouri who went too far. My Computer Tech classes need to read both articles and then comment on a Quia survey to complete the assignment.
The gist of the article is that a young 13 year old girl meets someone she thinks is a local boy, on MySpace. Her parents keep an eye on the communications but after some time, he breaks off the relationship, posts mean/nasty things about her and she’s devastated. She then commits suicide.
And as crazy as it seems, the “boy” was created by the parents of another girl, who used to be friends with the 13 year old. Apparently they thought it was a good idea, a way to support their daughter.
